Movie Update!
As we indicated in last year's newsletter the movie "Resurrection"
that was filmed at the Church was supposed to be done in the fall. The
producer, Tara Kittle, has had some serious health problems and the
completion of the movie has been set back. I contacted Tara this winter
and she is making progress as far as her health but still has a long
way to go. She indicated that there were a couple of scenes that still
had to be completed in California. We will keep you updated..

Weddings
Last fall Jean Barber’s son, Kurt and Kimberlee Woods were united in
marriage at the North Sidney Church. The weather was wonderful, the
Church was decorated beautifully and everyone enjoyed the day. Congratulations,
Kurt and Kimberlee!
Weddings at North Sidney are a special benefit to members of the Historical
Association. If you're interested in having your wedding here, contact
Jennifer Thomsen.

Memorial Day Service & Volunteers
Please plan on attending the Memorial Day Service on Monday, May
28. Final plans will be made at the Annual Meeting on May 9. The meeting
is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Church.
The Memorial Day Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. This year’s
message will be delivered by someone dear to Wes and my hearts! Luke
Dudenhofer, our son-in-law will be our speaker. Luke and Melissa live
in Chicago but both grew up in the Stanton/Sidney area. Luke’s
father, Tom, was Pastor at the Baptist Church in Stanton for many years.
Luke is graduating in May from Moody Bible College with a Masters of
Ministry. Luke is pastor of the New Life Community Church in Bridgeport
and they have two adopted sons, Josiah Wesley 2 years old and Titus
Charles who is 1. Melissa is a registered nurse at Rush University Medical
Center.
The week prior to Memorial Day we are looking for volunteers to spend
a few hours to keep the church open and greet visitors. Please let Jennifer
Thomsen know if you are willing to do this, so we can make sure
the church will be unlocked.

North Sidney Book / John and Ane Lamb Family
We still have copies of the North Sidney 1884-1984 book. There
is much information on the Sidney area and families in the area. Contact
Jennifer Thomsen, print out the order
form and mail it in with your check, or pick one up at the Church
on Memorial Day.
This year my “Focus on Our Area Families” is John
and Ane Lamb. John Lamb, son of Adam Lamb, was born in Nordby,
Samso, Denmark on January 11, 1844. He became a wooden shoemaker and
gardener. On September 25, 1986 he married Ane Christine Miller who
was born November 18, 1844 in Nordby, Samso, Denmark. They had nine
children. Three died in Denmark. Carl, Petrine, Peter, Andrew, Hannah
and Niels came to America. John and Ane’s daughter Hannah was
the first to come to America. She missed her family so much that she
finally convinced her parents to bring the family to America. They arrived
September 18, 1893 after a week on the boat. On November 25, 1893 they
purchased forty acres south of Derby Lake on Derby Road. In 1916 John
and Ane celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with friends in
Sidney. In 1917 they sold the farm and moved to the house west of the
Congregational Church in Sidney. John died October 17, 1919 and Ane
died on February 27, 1940. You can read more about the Lamb family in
the North Sidney Area book.
